A big, saucy thank you to Southdown Pizza Kitchen for our delicious Spaghetti & Meatball Member event!
We took a break from our normal weeknight meals to gather around the dinner table at the Sandbox and it was such fun! The party room turned Italian restaurant with the smell of baked bread and freshly rolled meatballs, red checked table cloths and Sinatra on Spotify (nice touch, Rob). The little ones bathed themselves in spaghetti and we grown ups got to brush off the cobwebs on the art of adult dinner conversation.
We talked about family meals and how difficult it can be to get dinner on the table with toddlers. It got me thinking about the rhythm and simplicity of having designated meals for nights of the week. The concept is simple: Assigning a food theme to each night of the week. (ie. Mon. soup night, Tues. rice bowl, Wed. pasta night, Thurs. grill night)
“What’s for dinner? That’s easy: What day of the week is it?…I recommend the practice mainly because it is so deeply grounding and affirming for kids” ~Kim John Payne
I look forward to continuing the conversation about our families’ mealtime rhythms. Wishing you the best of luck with finding yours. And, let’s go easy on ourselves and be sure to schedule pizza night regularly.
